There are many different types of headaches, but tension and migraine headaches are the most commonly treated. These two headaches may have a lot of similar symptoms, but are generally treated very different.

Tension Headaches

Muscle contraction headaches that usually consists of a dull ache on both sides of the head with a tight band across the front of the head.

Migraine Headaches

Produce moderate to severe pounding or throbbing pain, most common on one side of the head. May be accompanied with nausea, vomiting, dizziness, and sensitivity to lights or sounds.

Cluster Headaches

Not as common, but generally produces an excruciating, sharp-like-knife pain around one eye. Occur daily in clusters of weeks or months, then disappear for months or years. Most common in men.
